In 1922, James Dole came to the island, started planting pineapple over thousands of acres and became a major exporter and producer of 75% of the worlds pineapple. Due to the increasing numbers of workers arriving on Lanai to work the pineapple fields, Dole built a plantation camp in the flatlands of the island, now known as Lanai City. Most of these plantation style cottages were built in 1935 and today they are being restored for lodging to support the growing tourist industry. Our picker shack is a simple yet charming two bedroom, one bath renovated cottage. It has a new kitchen, new appliances, new bath, wifi and a very large lanai ringed with palm trees, to relax the day away. For the recreationalists, we have all the toys. Enjoy our boogie boards, snorkel gear, paddle boards and mountain bikes.
Located at 2000 feet, a few blocks from Dole Park and the town's restaurants and attractions, this property is ideally located. Lanai is a very different island with no stop lights and only 30 miles of paved roads but it has endless dirt roads for mt. biking, running and even forested hiking on open private lands. Not only does it have secluded beaches, two shipwrecks to explore, excellent diving and snorkeling, paddle boarding, surfing and world class golfing, one can roam just about anywhere. There are only two Four Seasons Resorts and one little town on the whole island.
For the folks that love a simple outdoors life and want a large dose of Aloha, this is the perfect Hawaiian vacation.
